Cooked Pears with Flaked Almonds and Chocolate Sauce

Introduction

Pears can easily be turned into a simple dessert with less than 10 minutes preparation.

Ingredients

  • 2 large pears
  • 1/2l milk
  • 3 tablespoons rum
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 pack of vanilla pudding
  • Cinnamon
  • Chocolate sauce
  • 30g flaked almonds

Preparation

  • Peel the pears and cut them into small cubes
  • Mix the vanilla pudding with the milk and sugar 
  • Core and thinly slice the pears
  • Sauté the pears in the butter for 3 minutes
  • Add the chocolate sauce and the rum
  • Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar and cook, stirring, until the sugar turns golden, 3 minutes
  • Spoon the pudding into cups and top with the warm pears; sprinkle with some ground cinnamon

Serving Suggestion

Serve the pears warm or at room temperature. Accompany with perhaps a scoop of Vanilla ice cream and some dark chocolate sauce, a spoonful of crème fraîche, Milk chocolate & black pepper ice cream, fresh raspberries, or alongside a wedge of spice cake or gingerbread.
